Inter Tribal Football Gala : Wangara defeat Mamprusi to reach semi-final

Wangara beat Mamprusi 1-0 in a fast-paced quarter-final on Friday to keep alive their dream of winning the first edition of the Inter Tribal Football Gala.

Alhassan Veron scored the only goal in the 82nd minute when he fired home a shot which deflected the Mamprusi defense and beat the hapless goalkeeper.

It was a game in which both sides started very well looking to take the lead.

Shinolar came close to getting the opener for Mamprusi but his efforts was saved by Kaisan.

Wangara also created some decent chances but couldn’t make use of it.

The Wangaras’ returned after the break with more determination as they searched for the opener.

After minutes of dominance, Wangara took the lead eight minutes to fulltime, Alhassan Veron’s shot deflected a Mamprusi defender to beat the goalkeeper..

Mamprusi launched a late fight searching for the equalizer.

Former King Faisal goalkeeper Kaisan Yuisu was at his best to deny them on several occasions.

The Wangara held on to progress to the semis of the tournament and they will meet the winner of the encounter between Gurushi/Sisala and Dagomba.
