All roads lead to New Fadama for commemoration of Maulid Nabi

New Fadama, the home of His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu will be set agog tomorrow when thousands of  Muslims from all walks of life converge for the commemoration of Maulid Nabi, the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, may the peace of Allah be upon him.

The annual celebration, which is organized by the National Chief Imam in the Islamic month of Rabi ul Awal, the birth month of the Prophet (pbuh), will bring together government officials, MPs, members of the diplomatic corps, regional Imams, Chiefs and thousands of Muslims from all corners of the country.

The Maulid, which the Chief Imam has been celebrating for the past six decades, has also assumed international appeal with prominent guests attending from various countries.

Even though the main event is on Saturday, guests started arriving on Friday, as New Fadama is already electrified in anticipation of one of the biggest events on Islamic religious calendar in Ghana.

On Friday afternoon, a mammoth crowd  of both the youth and the elderly joined the Chief Imam to eulogize the Prophet in melodious tunes, known as Madhi Nabi in Arabic.

On Saturday morning, various high-profile guests will visit the Chief Imam at home, pay homage and formally announce their presence.

The highlight of the Maulid will be in the evening at the New Fadama School Park with a grand durbar characterized by supplications, stimulating speeches and melodious praises in honour of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The commemoration of the Maulid is in honour of Allah’s gift to mankind, Prophet Muhammad. The occasion is also used to highlight the exemplary lifestyle of the Prophet Muhammad and to remind Muslims of their obligation to emulate his shining examples for their own benefits and their communities.

The Zongo Mail can confirm Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be the Guest of Honour.
