UAE Embassy marks 47th National Day in Accra

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Ghana yesterday commemorated the 42nd anniversary of its National Day.

The event is celebrated in UAE and worldwide every December 3, and it marks the unification of the United Arab Emirates in 1971.

The 42nd National Day celebration also coincided with the centenary birthday of the Founding Father of the UAE.

The UAE Embassy in Accra colourfully celebrated the day at the Kempinski Hotel, bringing together government officials, political leaders, members of the diplomatic corp, religious leaders, business executives, etc.

 

Addressing guests at the event, the UAE’s Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Khalifa Yousif Mohammed Al Zaab paid glowing tribute to the Founder and First President of the UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his great vision in unifying the States which formed the UAE forty seven years ago.

The Ambassador also hailed the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, adding that the reciprocal visits of leaders of the two countries recently underlines the commitment of the two countries for a mutually beneficial cooperation.

In his address, Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid, who led government’s delegation congratulated the UAE on behalf of the President and people of Ghana.

Dr Mustapha said the opening of embassies by the two countries in each other’s country is a testament to the commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral relations.

Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, who was a special guest, joined the Ambassador and Dr Hameed to cut a special cake commemorating the day.
