Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has donated a GHS 100,000 to the National Muslim Conference of Ghana (NMCG) during their fourth annual gathering in Accra.
He has also promised to donate a car following request by the Muslim Conference
The donation was announced during the opening ceremony of the three-day conference on Friday, where Dr. Bawumia served as the Special Guest of Honour.
The gesture aims to address the logistical challenges faced by the organization.
“I understand that the National Muslim Conference has been facing some challenges, such as funding transportation, office space, and so on,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
“I know that a request has been made that I provide a vehicle to the conference, so I will provide a vehicle to assist their operations.”

During his address, Dr. Bawumia revealed that several requests presented in the conference’s manifesto from the previous year were already being implemented by his government, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors.
He highlighted a notable achievement in medical education, mentioning that 40 Muslim students are currently studying medicine in Cuba on scholarships and are set to graduate next year.

The Vice President also encouraged Muslims to contribute regularly to the Zakat fund, which would enable the NMCG to provide financial support for its programs and projects.
He also urged all participants to continue to uphold the peace, unity, and diversity of our country, especially as we approach the 2024 election.

The conference, organized under the theme “Towards bridging the gaps in national healthcare delivery in Ghana; the role of the National Muslim Conference of Ghana (NMCG),” brought together diverse Islamic sects and Muslim leaders from across the country. The event, which was held under the auspices of the National Chief Imam and the Muslim Caucus in Parliament, focused on addressing critical gaps in the nation’s healthcare delivery system.
Since its establishment in 2021, the NMCG has become an important forum for Muslim leaders to contribute to national policy discussions and implement community initiatives, including educational support programmes and economic empowerment projects in Muslim communities throughout Ghana.
