BREAKING NEWS: Saudi Arabia announce  Friday July 31 as Eid Al Adha day

Saudi authorities have confirmed this year’s Eid Al Adha will be observed on Friday July 31.

Following sunset on Monday, Saudi authorities announced the crescent for the month of Dhul Hijjah was not seen, meaning the first day of Dhul Hijah will be on Wednesday July 22, 2020.

That means Hajj Day, or day of Arafat will fall on Thursday July 30, 2020.

This year’s Hajj is special and limited to only local residents due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic worldwide.

Saudi authorities announced the suspension of international pilgrims last month and said this year’s Hajj will be performed by only selected local residents, with all nationals expected to be represented.

About 10,000 pilgrims, made up of 30% Saudi nationals and 70% residents of other nationals are expected to undertake the historic Hajj.

Saudi Arabia has been preparing for the historic Hajj, which is expected to adopt significant social distancing protocols to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
