The Youth and Sports Minister, Honourable Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has made a compassionate visit to the home of Honourable Zak Rahman and his grieving family following the “painful loss” of Rahman’s beloved father, Alhaji Zak Merigha.
Honourable Ussif, who was out of town at the time of the tragedy, in a heartwarming display of solidarity and empathy, expressed his deep condolences during this difficult period for the family.
News of the sudden passing of Honourable Rahman’s father spread a wave of sadness throughout the community, with many expressing their sympathies and offering their support. Despite being away on official business during this time, the sports minister made it a priority to show his personal condolences and provide comfort to Rahman and his family.
“We share in your grief, and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for this painful loss,” stated the minister.
“Although I was unable to be here physically when your father passed away and I was not able to attend the funeral as well, please know that my support and sympathy are unwavering.
“I therefore chose such a blessed day to come and show my sympathies to you and express my concerns to the family. Alhaji Zak Merigha was a great man, and it is our prayer that his son will be greater and continue with the good works he left behind.”
Accompanied by members of his staff, the Honourable Ussif arrived at Rahman’s residence to pay his respects. The Minister spent time listening to the family’s memories and stories of Rahman’s father, offering words of solace and encouragement during this trying time.
Honourable Zak Rahman has been a loyal servant of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and is vying for the Aywaso East Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the party in the upcoming primaries to be held in February next year.
And Friday’s visit by the Minister marks an overwhelming endorsement and absolute confidence the party’s top brass have in him to wrestle the seat from the hands of the NDC in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

The family expressed their deep appreciation for the minister’s visit, acknowledging his commitment to serving the community beyond his official duties. They were touched by his gesture of compassion, recognising it as a testament to the minister’s character and dedication to the well-being of the people he represents.
Honorable Rahman, visibly moved and grateful, conveyed his gratitude, saying, “I am overwhelmed by the Minister’s presence here today. It shows his true character and the values he upholds as a leader. I want to express my heartfelt thanks for his support during this difficult time for my family.”
The minister’s visit not only provided comfort to Rahman and his family but also served as an inspiration for others in the community to come together in times of sorrow and lend a helping hand. The solidarity demonstrated by the Sports Minister emphasises the importance of unity and compassion, especially during moments of loss and sorrow.
As the minister bid farewell to Rahman and his family, he promised continued support and assistance in any way possible. He assured them that his office would be available to provide any necessary aid or guidance in dealing with the aftermath of their loss.
