Mr Abdulai Masigan voted President of Yankasa Association

Business man Mr Ibrahim Abdulai Masigan has won the 2021 Yankasa Association Election, grabbing 64% of the votes to  become the president of the philanthropic group for the next two years.

He replaces Mr Abdul Salam Obou-Deji, whose tenure of office comes to an end by January 1st 2022.

In an election held on Saturday 28th November, Mr Masigan polled 552 votes to convincely beat Mohammed Laminu Ali, who gannered 311 in a free and fair contest.

It was Masigan’s first attampt at the presidential seat and it was his strategic campaign that helped him to achieve the great feat.

His campaign message – “Develop our human capital to creat valu for our community – appealed to the majority of the voters, which made him the overwhelming favourite in the two horse race.

Ibrahim Abdulai Masigan, a business man and a philanthropist visited  Ghana in August to commission a fully furnished hospital at Malejor of which he praised the Yankasa Association for their support.

Ably supported by his vice Mohammed Bashir Kabore, he constituted a formidable campaign team that ensured he won the election by a landslide.

The November 28th election, which was organized at the Association’s Head office in the Bronx, NY, was characterised by an atmosphere of  unity and togetherness, of which Mr Masigan’ says “Yankasa is the winner.”

He and his vice will officially be sworn in January 2022 to lead the 37-year old Association until 2024.

The Yankasa Association of the US has been a philanthropic organisation that promotes and articulates the interest of Ghanaians in the New York metropolis.

It is has been serving the Ghanaian and American community since 1984.

It has carried out  lots of development projects across Ghana and other parts of Africa.
