Inter Tribal Football Gala : Hausa defeat Gurma to seal semi-final spot
Hausa sealed their place in the semifinals of the Inter Tribal Football Gala on Monday following a 1-0 win over Gurma.
Mohammed Umar’s first-half strike proved to be the winner but it could have been so different had Gurma goalkeeper not produced three fantastic saves before the break.
Hausa should have wrapped the game up in the second half but Mohammed Jafar, Umar Mohammed and Shiitu all spurned great chances to see off the spirited Gurma once and for all.
Jafar could have given Hausa the lead within 90 seconds, only to lash his shot over the bar but they went ahead regardless on 27th minutes.
Mohammed Umar finished home a great strike following a one two pass with shittu.
In the second half, Hausa looked more likely to find the net and double their advantage but Jafar
saw his shot deflect wide.
Mohammed Umar also saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper.
Gurma pushed late for equalizer but great goalkeeping from Mandey kept them at bay.
Hausa who have won all their games will face the winner of Zabarma and Moshie on Thursday.
