Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid tribute to the late Veep Alhaji Aliu Maham on the 10th anniversary of the death of the former NPP stalwart
In an emotional tribute to his NPP predecessor, Dr. Bawumia said Aliu Mahama’s “memory can never leave us” while he prayed for the soul of his wife, who died early this year..
No official ceremony was held by the government or the ruling party, but Dr Bawumia took to his social media to celebrate Mr Mahama, who served as former President Kuffour’s vice from 2001 to 2008.
“It has been exactly 10 years since you left us,” Dr. Bawumia said.
“However, your memory can never leave us.” You served Ghana with humility, hard work, and discipline. Our hearts are still with you.
“We continue to pray that Allah grants you Jannatul Firdaus, along with our mother Hajia Ramatu.”
Late Aliu Mahama died on November 16, 2012, three years after leaving office as Ghana’s vice president.
His wife, Hajia Ramatu, died in April 2022.
Dr. Bawumia became only the second Northner in the NPP to rise to the office of a vice president after Aliu Mahama.
