In a thrilling turn of events, the highly respected and favourite Honourable Zak Rahman has emerged as the first candidate on the ballot paper for the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East constituency.

The much-anticipated two-horse race on December 2 comes off following a rigorous vetting process that took place on Wednesday, November 15, where Zak Rahman successfully passed with flying colours.

His impeccable track record and support for the constituency, unwavering dedication to public service, and proven leadership qualities undoubtedly played a significant role in his success during the vetting session held in Teshie, Accra.

His commitment to transforming Ayawaso East through effective policies and initiatives has resonated with voters, making him a strong contender in this parliamentary primary.

It was all joy for Team Zack after Wednesday’s vetting

Speaking to the media after his vetting, Hon. Zak Rahman said being first on the ballot paper was a sign of victory for him in the December 2 contest.

“I am humbled and honoured to have secured the first spot on the ballot paper for the upcoming NPP Parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East, and I will say it’s a sign of victory for me as it shows I am the one the NPP wants to choose for the parliamentary contest,” he said.

“This opportunity speaks to the trust and support of the people, and I am immensely grateful. I believe that being at the forefront of the ballot signifies not just a position but also a responsibility to lead by example and serve the constituents with dedication and passion.

“I am committed to uniting our community, driving progress, and ensuring a brighter future for every resident of Ayawaso East. Together, let us embark on this journey towards positive change.”

As the first name on the ballot paper, the Honourable Zak Rahman holds a symbolic advantage going into the primary election. Being at the forefront of voters’ minds may play a critical role in shaping their decision-making process. However, his opponent cannot be underestimated, as both candidates possess unique strengths and qualifications.

“I need to maximise our efforts to appeal to the delegates,” he said.

“I believe I am the one to give the NDC a run for their money, but first of all, I need to win this primary, so I am not taking it cool. It is a contest, and we need to let the delegate know what is at stake in December 2024.

“We need to present a formidable candidate to snatch the seat from the NDC, and that is why I am here.”

The outcome of this election will ultimately determine who will represent the NPP in the Ayawaso East constituency, leading up to the highly anticipated general elections.
