Alhassan Yakubu-Tali appointed new substantive MD of ADB

Alhassan Yakubi-Tali, the Deputy Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank, has been appointed the substantive MD of the bank, marking a successful promotion that takes effect on December 1.

It comes upon approval by shareholders as well as regulatory approval received from the Bank of Ghana (BoG), respectively, after the retirement of Dr. John Kofi Mensah, whose tenure ends on the 30th of November 2022, marking a successful promotion.

A seasoned investment banker with over 20 years of international experience, Mr. Yakubu-Tali, until his appointment, served as the Deputy Managing Director of the Bank for the past 5 years.

He takes over from Dr. John Kofi Mensah, who retires at the end of November 2022.

Reacting to his appointment, Mr. Yakubu-Tali expressed his appreciation to shareholders and the Board, and he looked forward to more success in the years ahead.

“I wish to thank all our shareholders and the Board of Directors for this opportunity to serve as Managing Director and thank my immediate predecessor, Dr. John Kofi Mensah, for leading the team to position the bank better than it was in 2016.”

“I look forward to a more fruitful working relationship between the board, management, and staff to ensure we position our bank as the best bank in agribusiness financing and the most customer-focused bank in the country,” he said.

Mr. Yakubu-Tali has been with ADB since 2017, having worked with many multinational banks, including HSBC, Lehman Brothers Investment Bank, Bank of Tokyo, and Fimat International Bank.

He holds an MBA (Marketing) from the City University of Bellevue, USA (Frankfurt Campus); a B.S. (Business Administration), also from the City University of Bellevue, USA (Frankfurt Campus); a Diploma 2 (Business Administration) from West London College, London; and a Diploma 1 (Business Administration) from West London College, London.

He’s expected to lead the management and staff of ADB in growing the bank to become a “strong customer-centric bank, providing profitable and diversified financial services for a sustained contribution to agricultural development” in the country.

He is married and fluent in German, English, Hausa, and Dagbani.
