Youngster Salim Adam marks Hearts of Oak debut with a spectacular goal

Newly signed midfielder Salim Adam on Sunday marked his competitive Hearts of Oak debut with a spectacular finish as the Phobians beat Guinea’s CI Kamsar in the preliminaries of the CAF Champions League.

The youngster sent a wonderful drive from outside the box in the 93rd minute just few minutes after he was introduced into the game

The Phobians needed nothing but a win to advance to the next stage of the competition and it was bulky striker Kofi Kordzi who first converted a beautiful set piece for the team’s opener.

It brought hopes and smiles onto the faces of all the Phobian fraternity of which youngster Salim Adam would later put the icing on the cake with a thunderbolt strike to make it 2.

Salim Adam joined Hearts of Oak from New Edubiase United

Born in Kumasi Sabon Zongo, Salim Adams joined Hearts of Oak this season from Division One side New Edubiase United after an excellent performance in the 2020/21 season.

His debut for the Rainbow team came in the Champions League clash and he utilised the few minutes offered to him to make a claim to fame.

He is a product of the Osei kyeretwie Senior High school and began his footballing career at the Feelin Gari park of Sabon Zongo.

He joined the Phobians on a one year loan deal but reports indicate the 2020/21 premier League treble winners are in serious talks to sign him on a permanent deal as they battle for more domestic and continental laurels this season.

His presence adds a big  balance to Coach Boadu’s midfielder department, together with Emmanuel Nettey, Frederick Ansah Botwey and Caleb Amankwah.

The Phobians opened their Champions League campaign in a one-off game against the Guineans at the Accra sports.

It was their first Champions League in 12 years after losing to FC 105 of Gabon in 2008.

They now have two-legged clash with Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca next month.
