Baba Iddrisu and four others grab starting roles in Black Stars away game to Zimbabwe

RCD Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu and four of his Zongo compatriots have been handed a starting roles in Ghana’s away clash against Zimbabwe in the 2022 World Cup qualifier to be played on Tuesday.

Iddrisu, 25, is starting for the first time under Serbian Coach Milovan Rajevac as the Serbian makes  two changes to his team that walloped the Warriors at Cape Coast.

It is Rajevac’s second game but Iddrisu’s first, and the latter is joined by four of his Zongo brothers; Baba Abdul Rahman, Suleymana Kamal Deen, Jordan Ayew and  Kudus Mohammed for the Harare duel.

However it is Skipper Dede Ayew and youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who have been benched for the victory-chasing game that will determine the intensity of pressure Ghana can give the group leaders South Africa.

Iddrisu who plays for Spanish club RCD Mallorca will partner Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in midfield and in tactical setup of Rajevac who is having a second spell with the Black Stars after 12 years.

The Black stars at 6 points, trail the Bafana Bafana by a point with the South African looking like favourites in their home game against Ethiopia.
