The Islamic funeral (Dua) of the late Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Alhassan has been held in Accra on Sunday.
The funeral, held at the forecourt of the State House, had several dignitaries in attendance, including the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Minister for Planning and MP for Wenchi, Prof. Gyan Baffuor.
In an address, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia paid a glowing tribute to Alhaji M.B. Alhassan, describing him as “a gentleman and an educationist” who lived these attributes.

Dr. Bawumia acknowledged Alhaji Alhassan’s unwavering commitment to education, and revealed how the late Chief Executive Officer of the ZDF was committed to the implementation of the Free SHS policy during the preparation of the New Patriotic Party’s manifesto for the 2016 elections.
Various people and groups, including his wives and children, also paid tribute.
Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hameed read Government’s tribute, which described Alhaji M.B. Alhassan as one who “embodied a typical definition of a citizen” because he “mirrored selflessness, commitment and patriotism”.
Dr. Mustapha added that Alhaji was a true warrior, who proudly showed his affection for the New Patriotic Party at a time when the party was not attractive to many in the Zongo community.
