The Zongo Mail has learnt of the passing of retired educationist, Alhaji Rahimu Gbadamosi.
The revered former Director General of the Ghana Education Service, 85, died earlier today in Accra and he has been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic custom.
Scores of Muslims including the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia were present for the pre-burial Islamic ceremony in Accra.
Alhaji Gbadamosi was born in 1933 in the former British Protectorate of the Northern Territories.
He started his primary education in Wa and continued with his secondary education at the Tamale Secondary School in 1951.
The Zongo Mail understands he was made the senior prefect of the school from form two until he completed his secondary education.
He enrolled at the University of Ghana, Legon and after his tertiary education there, he returned to his alma mater, Tamale Secondary School to teach and later became the headmaster of the school.
Alhaji Gbadamosi subsequently worked at the Ghana Education Service (GES) as the Director of Curriculum Research and Development Division (CRDD). He was also the Director of the then Manpower Division at the GES.
Alhaji Gbadamosi later became the Director-General of the GES before retiring.
