Vice President Bawumia in emotional reunion with his doctorate thesis supervisor

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed an emotional reunion with his 82 year old thesis supervisor, Professor Emeritus Mahmood Hasan Khan at the Simon Fraser University in Canada.

Dr. Bawumia was a student at the University in the early 90s, and he obtained a PhD in Economics in 1995, with Emeritus Professor Hasan Khan supervising his Doctorate thesis.

Twenty four years after Emeritus Professor Khan supervised Dr. Bawumia’s work, the duo met again on over the weekend in Canada.

The meeting evoked nostalgic memory on the part of the Vice President who shared a picture of him and the Octogenarian former supervisor on his Twitter handle.

“Such a happy as well as emotional day in Vancouver. I met with my thesis supervisor at Simon Fraser University, Emeritus Professor Mahmood Hasan Khan,” Dr. Bawumia wrote on twitter.

“We talked about old times and his new readings. He gave me a copy of his recently completed autobiography (A Journey of Ages” Dr. Bawumia added.

The Vice President eulogised his former supervisor, describing him as “a fountain of knowledge” and also shared to his twitter followers the advice his former tutor gave him.

“Prof Khan is a fountain of knowledge and humility. He happened to be a student of Professor K.A. Busia at the Hague.

“Professor Khan left me with one piece of advice. He said at his age of 83, he realizes that the most important asset in one’s life is your health and if he had to do it over again he would spend more time on his health. Profound advice.”

“He is a true gem.”

After graduating with a master’s degree in Economics at Lincoln College, Oxford, Dr Bawumia enrolled at the Simon Fraser University where he obtained a Ph.D. in Economics at the Simon Fraser University.
