A mural of Muhammed Kudus has been unveiled at Nima in a bid to immortalize the Black Star poster boy in his community of residence as he keeps making them proud at the World Cup.
The 22-year-old Ajax Amsterdam midfielder has attracted global attention following his exploits with the Black Stars, and the Zongo community where he was nurtured to stardom has joined in the celebration.
Kudus has been Ghana’s main man at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, contributing three of the Black Star’s five goals in Group H and making history as the first Ghanaian player to score a brace in a World Cup.
He was named Man of the Match after scoring a brace in the five-goal thriller against South Korea. His 68th-minute winner ensured the Black Stars collected all three points.
And in appreciation of his efforts, popular artist Moh Awudu painted the player on one of the walls along the streets of Nima, in Accra.
According to the artist, Kudus represents the “you can make it” dreams of the people of the community.
“Kudus is a dream for the community,[Nima],” he said.
“A lot of negative stories have been said about it so it is an honour to paint kuddus and tell her story to inspire the Young generation they can move out of their comfort zone and make it”
