As she jubilates in confidence over the NPP's chances of winning the constituency seat for the first time

Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso East, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adam-Kuta, has expressed utmost confidence in the NPP’s chances of winning the Ayawaso East Constituency seat, with Hon. Zak Rahman elected to lead the party.

In a state of jubilation following Zak Rahman’s victory in the Ayawaso East NPP Parliamentary Primary held on Saturday, Hajia Salma lauded his triumph as a significant milestone towards securing the parliamentary seat for the NPP in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary election.

Hajia Salma’s expressions of joy reflect not only her confidence in Zak Rahman’s capabilities but also her belief that his leadership and vision align with the needs and aspirations of the constituency.

“Zak Rahman’s victory is a remarkable achievement for the NPP in Ayawaso East,” she declared in an interview with the Zongo Mail.

“With his leadership and capabilities, we have a formidable candidate who possesses the potential to win the constituency seat for the party. I am confident in his ability to emerge victorious, and we are all exuberantly ready to support his campaign.”

Zak Rahman emerged as the clear victor in the highly contested primary, surpassing his main rival, Hon. Nana Yaw Baiden, by a close margin.

He polled 283 votes to defeat his close contender and constituency Deputy Secretary Baba Ali Yussif, who got 272 votes.

As the Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adam-Kuta understands the importance of having a strong representative in Parliament who can effectively advocate for the constituency’s interests.

She recognises that Zak Rahman’s victory brings fresh momentum and renewed hope to the NPP’s campaign in Ayawaso East.

“I am so happy, as you can see, because this victory is a great boost for the NPP in Ayawaso East,” she said.

“Rahman is a strong and capable leader with a clear vision for the constituency. I have no doubt that he will make an excellent MP, and we are all excited to support him in the upcoming election.”

The Ayawaso East Parliamentary seat is presently occupied by the NDC’s  Naser Toure Mahama, who won it by over 7,000 votes in the 2020 Parliamentary election.

Anticipating an escalation of campaigning in Ayawaso East in the coming months, Zak Rahman will have to take his message directly to the constituents, aiming to garner their support and secure their votes in the forthcoming election.

The support of influential party members like Hajia Salma will undoubtedly strengthen Rahman’s campaign and increase his chances of success in the upcoming election.

“Together, we have a new task: we must strive to connect with voters, address their concerns, and ultimately emerge victorious in the December 2024 parliamentary election in Ayawaso East, she said.

“We have really worked as a party in government, and we will have to keep appealing to the electorate that the NPP is a better option for them in this constituency.”

While there is still much work to be done, the NPP and Hon. Zak Rahman can move forward with optimism and determination, backed by the celebratory atmosphere created by Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adam-Kuta’s enthusiastic support.
