Vice President ends first phase of Ramadan tour in Eastern Region

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has ended the first phase of his 2019 nationwide Ramadan tour in the Eastern Region.

The Vice President commenced the tour on Friday in the newly created Oti Region with visits to Dambai, Kwamekrom and Hohoe. He continued on Saturday with visits to Kpando, Kpedze and Dzodze in the Volta Region, and rounded off the first phase of the tour on Sunday with visits to Ofoase, Ofoase-Ayirebi, Nkawkaw and Akim Oda.

The Ramadan tour is an innovation by the Vice President, which takes him to Zongo communities across the country during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan to interact, pray and break his fast with fellow Muslims.

Throughout the tour, Dr. Bawumia urged the communities and Muslims to take advantage of the blessings of Ramadan and pray to the Almighty Allah for their well-being, as well as pray for the leadership of the country for Allah’s guidance for them to be able to achieve the government’s aim of developing and sustaining the growth of Ghana.

The Vice President also admonished the Zongo communities to live in peace and harmony among themselves, as well as with their brothers from other religious group.

The Vice President took opportunity of the tour to announce progress made on government’s Zongo development agenda, as well as reiterate government’s commitment to the agenda.

The respective Zongo communities the Vice President visited in the three regions, acknowledged government’s developmental policies and efforts for the Zongo communities, and prayed for both President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.

The Vice President will embark on the second phase of the tour in the coming days.
