
The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, signed the symbolic giant Ghana flag on Friday as part of the “Rally Round the Flag” campaign to urge all Ghanaians, home and abroad, to support the Black Stars as they represent the nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Dr. Bawumia became the second person to sign after President Akufo-Addo.
It was followed by Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif before other dignitaries and the general public could sign.

At the signing ceremony held at the Jubilee House, the vice president urged fans to remember that “we are one country with a common destiny.”
Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, whose ministry is promoting the campaign with the Ghana Supporters Union, led a delegation of supporters clubs to the Jubilee House for the launch.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, launched the campaign for national support for the Black Stars at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, which begins on Sunday, November 20.
Dubbed “Rally Round the Flag,” the campaign is aimed at driving all Ghanaians, home and abroad, to support the Black Stars as they represent the nation at the global soccer fiesta.
As part of the campaign, signatures are being collected on a giant Ghana flag from Ghanaian citizens before the flag leaves for Qatar to be a symbol of national support for the Black Stars, which will be displayed by Ghanaian fans.

President Akufo-Addo, who has demonstrated remarkable support for the Black Stars’ campaign, was the first to sign the flag after launching the campaign at the Jubilee House.
The Black Stars begin their World Cup campaign on November 24 against Portugal.
