Hajia Aida Gibril: renowned Muslim scholar honoured in US

Renowned Muslim scholar Hajia Aida Gibril has been honored by the Mayor of Newark City, Ras Jua Baraka, after a successful lecture held in the American city.

The popular female preacher received a pin of honor, the City Shield, a Medal, and a Certificate from the mayor for her efforts in uplifting girl child education.

Hajia Aida had delivered a lecture in New Jersey at a symposium organized by Hijratus Sunnah, a newly established Islamic society group based in the US.

The visit to the mayor’s office on Monday, February 13, was facilitated by the Bissa Chief of New Jersey, who is also a member of the Hujurat Sunna group.

At the mayor’s office, the delegation was received by three Council members led by Rev. Louise Scott Rountree, who presented the pin of honor, the city shield, a medal, and a certificate to Hajai Aida on behalf of the Mayor.

Rev. Rountree expressed her happiness to meet Hajia Aida and her powerful delegation, especially with Chire Ibrahim Adams involved.

She described Chirr Ibrahim Adam as a family member of Newark City Hall, through whom the city of Newark has established strong ties with Ghana.

She reiterated that Christine has given them the key to the African community in New Jersey and has been doing incredibly well in transcending the administration’s agenda to the African community.

She said, like Hajia Aida, that she is always welcome at the city hall and expressed hopes that the relationship will grow stronger.

She praised the Islamic Scholar for her efforts in uplifting the girl child’s education and her orphanage program, which will not only uplift the girl child but the up-and-coming youth in general.

Rev. Rountree further thanked Hajia Aida for being the mother of the motherless in her community. Rountree said the City of Newark is willing to communicate with Hajia Aida about any program she comes up with to empower the youth and women in particular.

Hajia Aida Gibril then expressed her appreciation to the city of Newark for the honor done her and prayed that Allah elevate the good work of Mayor Ras Baraka, adding that it is in her prayers that “we will wake up one day and see Mayor Ras Baraka as the President of the United States.”

Hajia Aida for over a decade has championed a vigorous Daawa program in calling people, espcially women, to Islam.

And her visit to and honor in the US comes upon the invitation of the Hujurat Sunna.

Expressing his delight, Chir Adams, who doubles as the Bissa Chief of Aworokorom in the Ashanti Region, took the opportunity to inform the city hall of the search for a place for Hijratus Sunnah to build a mosque and a community center.

In her response, Rev. Rountree said the city of Newark will do everything within its ability to help and that she will keep Chir informed of whatever is at their disposal to help make their dream a reality.

On behalf of Chir, lawyer Hamza expresses the delight of this exceptional reception accorded the delegation.

The symposium held on February 13 was the first of its kind and was organized by Hujurat Sunna. It received huge attendance from the Muslim population in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Among the members of the Hujurat Sunna who made the trip is Sheikh Bashir Serwuni, who is the Bissa Imam for New Jersey.

The Hujurat Sunna was established last year to champion the well-being of Muslims across the world.
