Former Ghana international Sulley Ali Muntari has paid a surprise visit to the Black Stars camp in Doha, sharing a few words with the players and technical team ahead of their World Cup opening game against Portugal on Thursday.
It comes just a few minutes after the Stars finished their final preparation for their clash with the former European Champions at the 974 Stadium in Ras Abu Aboud.
It was a moment of merriment and motivation when the 37-year-old Muntari arrived at the team’s hotel in Doha.
The former Hearts of Oak, AC Milan, and Inter Milan star, with his vast experience, held a closed-door meeting with Coach Atto and his men as they prepared to open their 2020 campaign amid high expectations.
The African giants will face Portugal, South Korea, and two-time World Cup winners Uruguay, having been housed in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars are making their fourth FIFA World Cup appearance after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia.
In their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2006, Sulley Muntari was a key member of the team and again inspired them to consecutive World Cup appearances in the 2010 and 2014 tournaments.
