Rauf Salifu grabs third as Lions record first Premier League victory
Accra Lions striker Rauf Salifu grabbed his 3rd goal of the season on a day his team registered their first Premier League win after beating Berekum Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday.
Salifu converted from the spot on the 34th minutes to make his third and it proved to be the cushioning as Chelsea come back late to pull one back.
After two back to back defeats to Great Olympics and Dreams FC – 3-1 in both- it was the Lions who roared back to victory in their fourth Premier League match ot the 20
A 29th minut goal from Christopher Acheampong gave Lions the hope that Saturday was going to be a different story, having drew their first game against Elmina Sharks and losing the last two.
But it was Salfu’s goal that ensured the Lions were safe before Augustine Okrah pulled one back for the Blues of Berekum.
With his three goals Salfu now joins the list of players who have taken early lead in the goal king race.
He scored the team’s first ever goal in the premier League as they joined the 2021/22 league campaign and now has 3 of the total 5 goals scored by the new comers.
