The Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubore in the North East Region, Mustapha Ussif has been unanimously approved by Parliament as Minister for Youth and Sports.
The Sports Minister designate was among a number of ministerial nominees who received unanimous endorsement from the Appointment Committee of Parliament and were thus recommended to the plenary for approval.
MP’s unanimously approved him and the thirteen others on Thursday evening.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif succeeds Hon. Isaac Asiamah as the second Sports Minister in the government of President Akufo-Addo.
The young incoming Sports Minister last week impressed stakeholders within the sports sector with his innovative ideas to improve sports when he appeared before the Appointment Committee for his vetting.
Among his innovative ideas which received plaudits were his suggestion to introduce a maintenance manual for the maintainance of sports facilities, the revival of schools games, expansion of sports infrastructure to communities and pushing for the creation of the sports fund to ensure sustainable funding of sports activities.
Speaking in support of his approval, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu described Hon. Mustapha as an enterprising young man and urged him not to abandon youth development.
The Minority Leader added that football has become a key enterprise for many young and further urged him to oay attention to it and also make sure that Ghana’s flag flues high in international competitions .
