Mohammed Alhassan suggests 5000ghc as salary for GPL players

Hearts of Oak defender, Mohammed Alhassan wants to see players in paid around 5000 ghc a month to guarantee them a stay in the country.
Alhassan believe better salary structures for players can curb player exodus, which is a contributing factor to the dwindling quality and excitement of the GPL
The GPL is arguably one of the low earning leagues in Africa, a situation which has compelled the best of talents to depart the shores of Ghana for better offers in other African countries.
According to the experienced centre-back, should a player GHc5000 per month, no player will leave Ghana.
“Let’s be honest to ourselves, if a Ghana Premier League player earns GHC5000 monthly, no player will leave the country.
Because of the suffering we go through, a typical Ghanaian player will be able to spend GHC2000 and save GHC3000 and that can do a lot”, he told Accra based Angel FM.
Alhassan has been one of Hearts outstanding performers in the last two seasons since he joined from West African Soccer Academy (WAFA) in 2018.
He was instrumental for the Phobians last season, winning the treble ( GPL title, FA Cup, President Cup) where he made 32 appearances.
Despite Hearts poor campaign in the just ended season, he captained the side to an emphatic 2-1 triumph over Bechem United to clinch the FA Cup for the second time running to claim their 12th title.
On 9 June 2019, Alhassan made his debut for Ghana in a 1–0 friendly defeat against Namibia.
