Mohammed Alhassan on target as Black Galaxies annihilate Benin in CHAN qualifier

Deputy Hearts of Oak Skipper Mohammed Alhassan was on target as Ghana’s Black Galaxies beat Benin 3-0 in their 2023 CHAN qualifier played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.

The defender stroke from a rebound to give Ghana a 2-0 lead after teammate Daniel Afriyie had scored the first through the spot on the 25th minutes.

A corner kick from Kotoko’s Imoro Ibrahim was headed out but it was Alhassan who was at the right spot at the right time to hit it straight into the net.

It was his first ever goal in national colours as the Black Galaxies grabbed a huge advantage ahead of the return encounter in Benin.

Ghana needed the cushioning after the first half had ended with a goal advantage and the Hearts of Oak central defender ensured his name got into the record books as one of three scorers from the same club side.

Coach Annor Walker had given starting roles to Alhassan alongside Goalkeeper Danladi Ibrahim, Imoro Ibrahim and Suraj Seidu and Razak Kassim.
