A livid Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development, has instructed the contractor building the mini stadium at Old Tafo Zongo in Kumasi to reconstruct the pitch at his own cost for shoddy work.
The Minister issued the order during an inspection of the facility, which revealed several sharp particles on the surface of the freshly-laid grass resulting from inappropriate sand which was used in filling up the place before the grass was laid.
The Minister revealed that a monitoring exercise by the Ministry a month ago discovered that the sand used in filling up the place was not appropriate and the contractor was cautioned- which he has obviously failed to heed to.
The Minister expressed disappointment at the nature of the soil used to fill up the park, which contained sharp objects like broken bottles.
Hon. Abdul-Hamid has therefore, directed the contractors to reconstruct the pitch at their cost, adding that he will ensure value for money for all projects being undertaken by the Ministry.
