
Mamobi will be given a second chance to participate in the 2023 Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup after failing to arrive in time for their game against Nsawam Zongo.
Both teams failed to appear for Saturday’s preliminary contest and were both disqualified aftermath.
But after a special plea, the Ayawaso North Capital, has second chance to showcase their strength in the competition which kicked of on Saturday April 29.
They will play Salaga on Sunday in search of Round 16 ticket against New Town, officials say.
“Mamobi have been pardoned but they won’t have a walkover to the Round of 16,” says a statement from the organizers.
“Instead, they will face one of the losers of the First Round (Salaga) in a special play off early morning. The winner will face New Town in the Round of 16.”
The Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup is in it’s 8th edition, growing bigger and better.
Saturday’s preliminary matches saw some heavy causalities as defending Champions and two times winners were eliminated by Ashaley Botwey by 2-1 in a penalty shootout.
Nima also saw their dreams shattered after a painful 1-0 loss to Ada Zongo.
Round 16 begins 7:30 am on Sunday.
