The Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo communities, Hon. Mustapha Hamid has revealed that he played a role in the president’s decision to reassign him from the Ministry of Information.
Hon. Hamid refuted claims that President Akufo Addo’s recent reshuffle which saw him moved from the Information ministry means he has been demoted.
Speaking on Accra based radio station, Starr FM, Hon Hamid affirmed that his new role is one that he has always cherished.
“To a larger extent, I played a role in getting my new role in getting my new role as Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development. I wanted a new challenge after being in the communication space a little over 11 years”, he said during the interview.
According to the former spokesman for then candidate Nana Akufo Addo, e considers his reassignment as a great honor and an opportunity to help develop Zongo communities.
“ As a Zongo boy, I owed the community. I have taught in various makaranta schools but I think there is more I can do”, he added.
Dr. Hamid revealed that he intends to focus on education and human resource development which in his view has been a challenge for the people and once it’s cured, it will solve a lot of problems in the Zongo.
“We will make sure our people get sound education and sound shot at life…as part of our educational drive, we plan on setting up reading and study clubs to help the younger ones, he emphasized.
Hon. Dr. Mustapha Hamid was replaced by his deputy Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in President Akufo Addo’s first ministerial reshuffle.
