Honourable Ussif congratulates Samson Deen on APC election victory
Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif has congratulated the newly-elected President of African Paralympic Committee (APC) , Mr Samson Deen on his election victory.
He believes it’s a victory for the whole nation and has assured Mr Deen of every support that he will need in the execution of his mandate.
It comes after Mr Deen paid a courtesy call on the Minister at his office in Accra on Wednesday upon his return from Morroco where the election was held.
In his congratulatory statement, the minister explained how the government of Nana Akufo-Addo has continously expressed the desire to promote and develop the least-financed sports in the country.
“I can assure you, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic is committed to seeing the least-financed sports grow and achieve laurels in Ghana, all geared towards the total promotion and development of sports,” he said.
Mr Deen’s Presidential bid for the continental organisation was endorsed by Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Deputy Sports Minister Evans Bobie Opoku, who even travelled to Rabat to support Deen.

He used the opportunity to express his sincerest gratitude and utmost appreciation to the Sector Minister for the support he gave him towards his aspiration to become the new Paralympic President on the continent.
He also thanked His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for approving his candidature and the best of assurances he received from him prior to the contest.
He also thanked all Ghanaians, from far and near, for their continuous prayers that ensured his victory.

With him for the courtesy call included the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie who led the delegation to Rabat, Morocco to ensure the victory.
Others were the Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, Deputy Director (Technical), Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr and some executive members of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee.
Samson Deen was elected as President of the African Paralympic Committee (APC) after polling 24 of the 41 votes at the organisation’s General Assembly in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
His contender Hamid El Aouni of Morocco had 15 votes.
A total of 38 delegates were present in person and a further three virtually at the APC General Assembly.
Deen was elected as President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana in 2019, having previously headed the country’s Para Powerlifting Association.
He replaces Angola’s Leonel da Rocha Pinto, who had led the APC since 2008 and was re-elected unopposed in 2017.
