Hon. Zak Rahman pays courtesy call on National Chief Imam, leaders of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah

As he seeks their blessings ahead of his December 2024 task

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East Constituency, Honourable Zak Rahman, on Wednesday, October 6, began a series of visits to various religious leaders in the Zongo community in a show of respect and gratitude following his election victory last week.

The visits, aimed at seeking their blessings and support as he prepares to lead the NPP in the December 2024 parliamentary election, come just days after Honourable Zak Rahman emerged victorious in the Ayawaso East NPP primary, which was held on December 2nd.

Zak Rahman began his tour by paying visits to the Imams of the Ahulus Sunna wal Jamaah at the Islamic Research Institute in Nima on Wednesday,  followed by a visit to the famous Malam Ridwan of Nima on the same day.

The national chief imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubut, being one of the most respected figures in the country, was not left out of the tour. On Thursday, the Honourable Zak Rahman paid a courtesy call to the Chief Imam at his Fadama residence. This meeting allowed him to seek the Chief Imam’s blessings and wise counsel for the forthcoming election.

The timing of these visits holds great significance, as Honourable Rahman is now determined to unseat the incumbent NDC MP, Honourable Naser Mahama Toure, in the upcoming election.

“The purpose of these visits was to express my appreciation for your continuous prayers and guidance for the Zongo communities in the constituency, region, and country as a whole,” he said.

“I will soon embark on a similar visit to the leadership of the Christian community.”

During his visit to the religious leaders, the Honourable Zak Rahman expressed his deep gratitude for their unwavering support and prayers. He acknowledged their crucial role in fostering unity, peace, and development in the Zongo communities. He also emphasised his commitment to working closely with them to address the needs and aspirations of their constituents.

This visit to the Chief Imam and other religious leaders signifies Honourable Zak Rahman’s determination to engage with key stakeholders and build strong relationships with the community. And it also heralds his planned thank-you tour, which he plans to embark on later this month.

“As announced earlier, I will embark on a thank-you tour later this month to show gratitude and respect to the members of the community,” he said.

“Seeking the blessings and guidance of these esteemed leaders, I demonstrate my commitment to serving the people and representing their interests effectively.”

As the Honourable Zak Rahman plans to embark on his thank-you tour, his interactions with religious leaders highlight his inclusiveness and willingness to work collaboratively with all segments of society. It is a testament to his desire to bring about positive change and progress in Ayawaso East.

He said expressing his gratitude and seeking blessings from the religious leaders shows his genuine appreciation for their prayers and guidance.

According to the NPP parliamentary candidate, he aims to set a promising tone for his leadership through engagement with the community as the campaign for the December 2024 parliamentary election approaches.
