Ghana Modest Fashion Week 22 comes off on Saturday

A number of designers are set to showcase their glittering modest designs in the 3rd edition of the Ghana Modest Fashion Week 22 to champion diversity in the fashion and modeling industry.

Dubbed “Home Edition”, the Ghana Modest Fashion Week 2022  seeks to focus more on modest fashion origins from Ghana, narrowing its focus to the various sub-regions and how they portray modesty in a bid to bring Ghanaian fashion to the World.

The fashion show is modest-centered and serves as a riposte to Western beauty industry.

Designers are to produce fashionable clothes without crossing the boundaries of what religion permits. Models would catwalk wearing the designs produced by the designers.

According to organisers Shamfiz J, the event will not only provide a contrast to the Western fashion industry, but would also dispel prejudices against Islam.

“Generally, modest women who have had an interest in such areas, often face a lot of barriers as they have to compromise on their lifestyle or let go of their dreams,” official statement says.

“To address this, Shamfiz J modeling house has had training sessions with models and the mother company launched a fashion show in 2019 to create awareness with the theme “Beyond Fashion.

“We currently work with both genders and all other individuals who stand for modesty in the fashion industry thus our doors are always open.”

The Ghana Modest Fashion Week seeks to encourage stakeholders to embrace diversity, and provide an opportunity for more modest men and women in the area of fashion and modeling.

It is a springboard for Fashion designers to explore the theme to coin their own concepts to draw attention to modesty in Ghana for growth in mindset, human development, and economic opportunities in fashion.
