Dr Shekira Yahya: UDS graduating female Medical student picks 7 awards
A graduating female medical student of the School of Medical Sciences at University of Development Studies (UDS) Dr Shakira Yahya last Saturday brought an enviable honour to herself and her family after sweeping 7 of the total 9 awards on offer.
At 22nd congregation ceremony held Multi-purpose Auditorium, Tamale Campus, the young lady in her mid 20s became the most decorated among her peers.
It was a graduation ceremony held under strict adherence of Covid-19 protocols as only First Class Honours graduands and all Postgraduate graduands were invited to be physically present for the event.
The rest of the graduands followed proceedings of the event online.
However it was Dr Shakira who competed her six years Medical course in style, Winning the Overall Best Medical Student

1. Best Overall Medical Student
2. Mr. Poku Prize for Best Medical Student in Paediatrics and Child Health
3. Ghana Medical Association Award for Overall Best Medical Student
4. Vice Chancellor Award for Best Student in MBChB
5. Dean’s Award for Overall Best Graduating Medical Student
6. Dr. Sory Prize for Best All-round Graduating Medical Student
7. Registrar’s Award for Best Student in MBChB
