The Coalition of Muslim Group (COMOG) has accepted an apology rendered to Muslims by the CEO of the National Cathedral Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, concluding that the latter meant no harm to the sensibilities of Muslims in that statement”.

It comes after Dr. Opoku Mensah publicly announced withdrawal of his claim that Government facilitated the construction of the National Mosque.

The CEO in his bid to justify the usage of public fund to construct the National Cathedral, said Government facilitated the construction of the National Mosque situated at Kanda in Accra.

He however had to apologize a day later following a respond by COMOG on behalf of the Muslim in Ghana.

In a statement issued on Friday 17th June, COMOG expressed it’s satisfaction with the apology, hopping that nobody will make similar comments, it had described as “falsehood”.

“Having analyzed the circumstances under which you made the statement, we have come to the conclusion that you meant no harm to the sensibilities of Muslims in that statement but perhaps, got carried away by the euphoria of the moment,” COMOG said.

“We therefore unreservedly accept this apology on behalf of entire Muslim Ummah hoping that such, or similar comments will not be made by anybody subsequent to this banter.”
