Moslems have been urged to express their profound love for the Prophet Muhammad (may the peace of Allah be upon him) beyond oral proclamation by emulating what he preached and practicing it.
Delivering his Friday Khutba (sermon) at the Police Mosque in Cantonment, Accra on the topic “the love of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W”, Imam Abass Umar Abdul-Karim noted that it was mandatory for every Moslem to love the Prophet.
He however cautioned that the expression of love for the Prophet by word of mouth alone is not enough, and that Moslems should make a conscious effort to put into practice what the Prophet taught.
“There are some rights that we owe the Prophet SAW and among these rights is to love the Prophet,” Imam Abass said.
“There is no question mark about it; the ultimate thing you can show the Prophet is to love him,” added.
But he admonished the congregation that they “the love of our Prophet goes beyond professing it in your mouth. It must also sit in your heart and it must manifest in your dealings in both public and private life.”

“To love him means to believe in his message. To love him means, after believing in his message you practice it or you actualize it.”
The Imam assured the congregation that true love for the Prohpet is a guarantee that Allah will love us in return.
Continuing his sermon, Imam Abass urged the congregation to be conscious of “our duty towards our maker in both public and public life.”
“The fear of Allah or God consciousness should be our guide. We should exhibit all elements of sincerity in our devotion and in our relationship with fellow human being,” the Imam preached.
“In worshipping Allah and dealing with other human being, we should make sure that all our activities conform strictly to the tenets and teachings of our Noble Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.”
“To gain favour from Allah, we must worship Allah according to the principles taught by Prophet Muhammad that qualifies it to be worship because any other thing that is not in conformity with the teachings and principles of Allah SWT is null and void.”
