Bawumia urges security forces, media professionals, and healthcare workers to support him with their votes.

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the forthcoming December 7 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged health professionals, media personnel, and security forces across the nation to cast their votes in his favor during the early special voting scheduled for Monday, December 2.

For the 2024 general elections, there will be 328 designated special voting centers nationwide, accommodating a total of 131,478 voters listed for special voting. Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the current government, under his stewardship alongside President Nana Addo, has made considerable advancements in these sectors, and he is now appealing for their backing to secure triumph in the impending elections.

In a campaign address aimed at these pivotal groups, the Vice President enumerated the various initiatives undertaken by the government over the past eight years to enhance their respective fields. Dr. Bawumia remarked, “We inherited a security sector plagued by numerous obstacles, yet we have substantially fortified the ranks within our security agencies.”

In discussing the police sector, he noted, “The Ghana Police Service now comprises over 46,000 officers, nearly 13,000 more than we initially inherited.” He further highlighted that in the Fire Service, “The number of officers has surged to 15,000,” while “the Prisons and Immigration Services have experienced comparable growth in personnel.”

On the topic of infrastructure, Dr. Bawumia disclosed that “Over 900 vehicles and three helicopters have been integrated into the Police Service.” He additionally stated that more than 11,000 cameras have been deployed nationwide to enhance the surveillance framework. Concerning accommodations for security personnel, he asserted, “We have also ameliorated living conditions through the establishment of new barracks and housing units for our personnel.”

Dr. Bawumia also underscored the successful resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy conflict as a notable accomplishment of the NPP government in fostering a peaceful nation. He assured that border security would be bolstered under his administration by augmenting the surveillance system with an additional 50,000 cameras.

For the media, he highlighted that the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) law has significantly enhanced journalistic practices, while the creation of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has further enriched the media environment.

He also pointed out that the rollout of 5G technology and the expansion of broadband services are empowering media professionals, stating, “Your work is poised to flourish even further.” Dr. Bawumia committed to advancing the nation’s healthcare system by completing the Agenda 111 hospitals and expanding the Zipline drone service nationwide.

“I sincerely seek your support to carry on the positive initiatives we’ve started. When you head to the polls, remember to vote for me,” he stressed.
