Ayawaso East NPP PC Zak Rahman donates GHS 6,500 to AMSER Inter-Tribal Competition

Vows to support talent hunt if elected

The AMSER Zongo Inter-Tribal Football Competition has received a GHS 6,500 financial boost from Zak Rahman, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East constituency.
It comes after Mr. Rahman, accompanied by members of his constituency executive, visited the Kanda Cluster of Schools Park on Monday ahead of the match between Sisala and Fulani.
The donation was made as his contribution to the tournament, which has become a unifying platform that brings together talented youth from diverse Zongo communities across Accra.
The parliamentary hopeful lauded the tournament for fostering unity and camaraderie among the youth, transcending tribal lines.

“The talent on display reaffirmed my belief that our Zongo communities are a goldmine of undiscovered potential,” Hon. Rahman stated, having prior knowledge about the multitude of talents in the Zongos, including the Ayawaso East Constituency.
“This event is more than just football; it’s a vital platform unearthing hidden gems from our neighbourhoods.”
Hon. Rahman expressed his belief that initiatives like the AMSER Zongo Inter-Tribal Football Competition play a crucial role in empowering Zongo youth and providing diverse platforms for them to showcase their talents, not just in sports but also in areas such as arts, technology, and entrepreneurship.
“If elected as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, I’ll work tirelessly to ensure these skills don’t go unnoticed, creating opportunities that extend far beyond the football pitch,” he emphasised, underscoring his commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders from these often-marginalised communities.

With 16 teams representing various tribes and ethnicities, including Ahanta, Akan, Sisala, and Fulani, the competition provides a platform for young talents from Zongo communities to showcase their skills.

The organisers of the tournament expressed their gratitude for Hon. Rahman’s support, stating that such contributions from public figures and potential leaders go a long way in motivating and inspiring the youth to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.

Since its inception as an annual Football between Bissas and Zabarmas, the competition has grown to contain more ethnic groups and continues to showcase the incredible talent within Zongo communities.
