Mohammed Kudus’ mural to be unveiled at Maiden Nima Heroes Awards

A formal unveiling of a giant mural of Black Star talisman Mohammed Kudus will be held in Nima at an award event to celebrate heroes of the Zongo community.

Nima will witness the dual-purpose program that has been initiated as a way of creating a positive narrative for the most popular Zongo in the country.

Friday marks the formal unveiling of the mural, which was painted early this month by renown artist Mohammed Awudu, and it will equally mark the beginning of the Awards event, which has been established and will be held annually by Broadway Entertainment.

About nine individuals are slated to be honored for their contributions in both the sports and art industries and for carving out role models for the youth of the community, organizers say.

“The Nima community has produced great sportsmen of national and international repute, and the emergence of Kudus rekindles the belief that more talent can be unearthed,” says the CEO of Broadway Entertainment, Abdul Fatahu Alhassan.

The painting of the mural by renown artist Mohammed Awudu on the walls along the Kanda Highway came up when Kudus took the world by storm with his artistic soccer display playing for the Black team in the just-ended Fifa World Cup.

Mohammed Awudu has been one of Ghana’s biggest fine artists, whose work has received several global attention, and ultimately, he himself will be rewarded alongside Mohammed Kudus at the December 23rd event.

Others to be honored are Alhaji Abdul Salamu Amadu, the CEO of the Afro Arab Group of Industries; Mohammed Amin Lamtey, a renowned sports journalist and PR expert; Issah Hammed, a former Black Stars defender; and the legendary Mohammed Polo.

Others are the VIP musical group and the man who unearthed Ajax star Joshua Ayoba.

A posthumous award will go to the late Alhaji Bimbo, the former CEO of Mamobi Midjiland FC.

Kudus, with his two goals and one MVP Award, became Ghana’s revelation at the World Cup staged in Qatar.

He grabbed the headlines across the world as Nima shared in the pride.

Nima, a typical Zongo community, is filled with budding talents across all spheres of life.

And according to the organizers, celebrating the heroes of the community will serve as a motivation for more of these talents to be produced.

Kudus himself will be around on Friday to witness the unveiling of his own mural, created in his honor.

He therefore becomes the youngest among a tall list of heroes to be recognized for carrying the flag of Nima high.
