Mohammed Kudus scores as Ghana thrash Madagascar in Afcon qualifier

A goal each from Kudus, Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari ensured the Black Stars got a convincing win over Madagascar at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Nima-born Ajax star shot Ghana into the lead at the 54th minute after connecting a cross from Felix Afena-Gyan with a simple tap-in from close range.

He could have grabbed a brace on the day but his 68th minute goal but was flagged offside by the match official.

The Stars had been frustrated by the Barea as Otto Addo’s men kept knocking on the door for the opener amid near misses.

However, back from recess, the home team played with much purpose and hunger in search for the three points as the fans kept urging them on.

And the ecstatic moment came when Afena-Gyan out run the Madagascan defends to released a cut-back in the path of Andre Ayew but the Al Sadd forward fluffed his lines only for Kudus to smash it home with his right foot.

Afena-Gyan  later scored his debut goal to make it two for the Black Stars after connecting a pass from Gideon Mensah.

Substitute Osman Bukari wrapped the victory after using his pace to outwit his marker before rounding up goalkeeper Nina Razakirina for the emphatic win.

The result means Ghana go top of Group E thanks to the victory after Angola defeated Central Africa Republic 2-1 in the group’s other game earlier in the day.
