Story by Imam Abass Abdul Karim, Makkah, Saudi Arabia
The 4th scheduled flight to return Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims to the Tamale Airport has been delayed, The Zongo Mail can exclusively confirm.
The 4th flight to Tamale was scheduled to take off in Jeddah earlier today and land in Tamale tonight, but the scheduled departure could not happen due to what is believed to be a technical hitch by airline operatirs, Fly Nas.
The Zongo Mail sources within both the Hajj Board and the Ghana Hajj Agents Associations indicate that frantic efforts are being made for the delayed flight to take off and land in Tamale early on Thursday (tomorrow) instead of tonight.
Three flights have already landed in Tamale from Saudi Arabia within schedule, and 492 pilgrims were expected to be on board the FlyNas airlines scheduled to have taken off.
The delay in today’s flight schedule is likely to affect subsequent flight schedules to Ghana announced by the Hajj Board.
A member of the board of Pilgrims Affairs of Ghana, Dr. Mohammed Yunus Osman who corroborated the delay, attributed the delay of the 4th flight today to a possible technical hitch on the part of the carrier, FlyNas.
Meanwhile, officials of FlyNas were not immediately available for interview.
The Zongo Mail is following the story keenly and will update readers on arrangements to resume flight schedule for the return of Ghanaian pilgrims.
