Zongo Ministry to partner Germany for vocational and technical skill development

The German Ambassador to Ghana Christoph Retzlaff has expressed his country’s readiness to partner the Ministry for Inner-City and Zongo Development for vocational and technical skills development.

Ambassador Retzlaff disclosed this during a courtesy call on him by the Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid to share his vision for the Ministry.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid told Ambassador Retzlaff the Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development was created by President Akufo-Addo to achieve social inclusion and also open opportunities for inhabitants of these communities.

On his vision for the Ministry, the Hon. Minister said developing the human resource base of Zongos and Inner Cities was his ultimate goal.

In that regard, he sought the support and cooperation of the German Embassy, especially in the area of vocational and technical skills development and training.

The German Ambassador responded positively and expressed his country’s readiness to assist the Ministry achieve that goal.

Ambassador Retzlaff further disclosed that his country currently invests close to 30 million Euros annually in skills development and training, adding that Ghana and Germany will be signing a new development cooperation agreement for vocational and technical training by middle of October, 2018.

The Ambassador assured the Minister of further collaborative activities and programs.
