Minister meets Council of Zongo Chiefs, Ghana Muslim Mission

The Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has met the Council of Zongo Chiefs, the Ghana Muslim Mission and other stakeholders during his familiarization tour of the Greater Accra Region.

Dr Mustapha has been embarking on a tour to acquaint himself and share his vision with identifiable groups and individuals since he took over as Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development recently from Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadique.

At the Abossey Okai Central Mosque where he met the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Abbosey Okai Central Mosque in Accra. Dr Mustapha reiterated that his main priority was education as it was the key to the future of children.

From the Central Mosque, the Minister proceeded to Ghana Muslim Mission at Korle-Gorno, where he interacted with officials of the Mission. He praised the Mission for their contribution to education especially for Inner-Cities and Zongo communities. He said their blend of Islamic and secular academic curriculum was the best to develop the human resource base in Zongo communities. The Minister also inspected an on-going classroom construction project and promised the Ministry will complete it in due time.

At Chorkor, the Minister met with Chiefs, Fishermen, Imams and youth groups and told the gathering that the Ministry will ensure that Inner Cities get their fair share of developments. He urged the youth to take advantage of the skills and vocational training the Ministry will be rolling out in due course.

The community requested for an Artificial Football Pitch at the Indadfa Park at Korle Bu. The Minister and his team inspected the park and promised the Ministry will consider the proposal.

The Hon. Minister was accompanied by officials of the Ministry led by the Chief Director, Mrs. Gifty Mahama Biyira, the National Nasara Coordinator of NPP, Abdul Aziz Futa and other party functionaries.
